    Dear parents/guardians of Outreach students:

Like much of the education community in Alberta, Leduc Outreach is reeling in shock and disbelief at the tragic incident that took place yesterday at Christ The King (CTK) School. We share in the confusion and grief that our colleagues at CTK, as well as the entire Leduc community, are coming to grips with this tragedy.

Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies are with our colleagues, friends and the families who are impacted by this. As a teacher, principal and step-parent, I am deeply saddened by this senseless loss of a young life.

I want to reassure parents and guardians that Leduc Outreach students and staff were safe at all times during this incident. We review and practice our emergency response protocols on a regular basis as part of our ongoing commitment to student safety. I want to thank the staff and students of Leduc Outreach for their calm and cooperative demeanor during our Hold and Secure. Also, thank you to parents for their understanding and cooperation during this event.
This incident will impact many people across our community, including some of our students and staff. We will be working with Black Gold School Division and our community partners to provide support to students who find they are struggling.

Due to the nature of how an Outreach school operates, we do not see students on a daily basis. Parents / Guardians, please contact us to let us know how we can best support your child. We encourage our students who are struggling with this incident to reach out to someone to help make sense of this tragedy. Mr. Stevenson, our school counselor is available – please reach out to him through our school number 780 986 9466.

For families struggling to cope with this tragedy, please know that supports are available. Please contact the City of Leduc Family and Community Support Services at (780) 980-7109 for assistance. Students can also contact Kids Help Phone at 1-800-668-6868 or they can text 686868 or live chat via the website: https://kidshelpphone.ca/.
